Hello and welcome to Postcards I Never Sent! I’m Hannah, an Essex-based travel writer and poet. This Substack is about my travels and the thoughts they’ve inspired. Here are some FAQs :)

What can I expect if I subscribe to Postcards I Never Sent? Every week, I send out a ‘postcard’ to subscribers - each one is based on a place I’ve visited, but includes musings on subjects such as history, nature, culture, food, literature and art. Paid subscribers will be able to comment on posts and access all the juicy stuff behind the paywall, as well as having my eternal love and gratitude for their support <3

Who will enjoy Postcards I Never Sent? Some of my favourite things include: theme parks, autumn, old ruined buildings, poetry, dim sum, murder mysteries, nostalgia, graveyards, coastal towns, and staring out of train windows. So if you like any or all of the above, you will probably enjoy the Substack!

Where have you travelled? After graduating from university, I accepted a job offer in Hong Kong and ended up staying there for almost three years. During that time, I travelled as much as Covid restrictions would allow (this included a strange Covid-related five-week interlude in Germany). On my return, I used my savings to take the post-university gap year I always wanted, travelling around Europe, Egypt and the UK.

Do you write anything else? Amongst other things, I’ve had travel writing published in The Daily Telegraph and poetry in Foxglove Journal. Most recently, I contributed a poem to The University of Essex’s Walk With Words project. I’m currently working on my first novel.
